New World Computing, Inc. was a North American video game developer and publisher based in Agoura Hills, California. It was founded in 1984 by Jon Van Caneghem, his wife Michaela, and Mark Caldwell. They are best known for their Might and Magic series. On July 10, 1996, the New World Computing was purchased by 3DO Company. A large portion of its staff was laid off in April 2002. The following year 3DO filed for bankruptcy, putting an end to New World Computing's existence as well. The rights for the Might and Magic franchise were sold to Ubisoft.
