Game description

Sołtys is a humorous point-and-click adventure game from Poland. Its title refers to the traditional word denoting a village head, and here, you're going to play a particularly hapless and slovenly one. Sołtys unsuccessfully tried to marry off his not-exactly-startling daughter, and must now find and bring back the bridegroom who narrowly escaped right from the wedding.

As is usual for the genre, the game revolves around collecting items and using them to solve puzzles, which often leads to the discovery of more items and more puzzles to solve. Unusually, here you will not walk between the screens, but use a navigational interface stylised after a TV set with a remote control, which switches you between the available scenes, adding more as they are unlocked by solving puzzles. The art style is somewhat reminiscent of another game by the same developers, Sfinx.

Sołtys was originally sold commercially and only within Poland. It was declared freeware in 2003. The game is now supported by the ScummVM adventure multi-engine, and an English translation has been created as well.
