Game description
Rival, also known as Rival Chess, is a nicely designed chess programme that features a pleasant and functional user interface and a relatively strong AI opponent.
The game allows to play traditional chess, as well as several variants like Shatranj, and offers other customization options. Overall, Rival has a professional and polished look, and the AI is robust in calculating its moves.
The game was originally distributed as shareware, but eventually it was released as freeware along with the source code. The latest DOS version 1.5f is designated as shareware in the documentation, but it is in fact the complete game, as there were no limitations in the unregistered version is the first place. A native Windows version is also available, freeware as well. It was later ported to Android too.
