Game description
Centaur is a computer chess programme with a fancy graphical user interface, like Psion Chess or Cyrus. It uses a non-standard algorithm of searching for moves, which is not exceptionally strong but can provide a decent challenge. The game won several tournaments in the early 90s. It can also be used for two-player matches as well.
Centaur was originally sold as a commercial product, but in 2003 author Viktor V. Vikhrev provided the full game as freeware to the general public. A Windows native version is also available.
