Game description
Quest 2: The Forest Trap is a top-down action role-playing game that plays a bit like Rogue and its multiple successors, but in real time and with much simpler rules.
The player character is an adventurer of some sort who is exploring a mazelike forest. The woods are crawling with hostile creatures, but you can also find arrows, jewels and potions. By default, the player automatically attacks monsters that are nearby, but pressing the space bar will shoot an arrow that devastates everything in its path. However, these arrows are limited in supply. Between levels, you can use the jewels that you've collected to gain experience points, restore health, buy arrows, potions or food rations.
Unlike Rogue or NetHack, the levels are not randomly generated but always stay the same. Only a small area surrounding the player is visible at any time, and a sophisticated animation is used to draw shadows from the tall trees as the player moves around. The game was released as freeware.
