Game description
Quadrax is a side-view puzzle-platformer game for one or two players. The story revolves around a duo of archaeologists who are exploring ruins full of hazards and traps. In one-player mode, the player switches between two characters to control them.
Each level takes up one screen. The goal is to bring both characters to the exit, marked with two animated arrows. The archaeologists can climb up and down, push blocks and operate levers to open doors and trapdoors, or otherwise change level geometry. The puzzles often revolve around the players' ability to perform actions by the two characters being in different parts of the level. The game starts with moderately simple puzzles but grows progressively more intricate as it introduces new elements, traps and hazards.
Quadrax was initially a ZX Spectrum game that was later ported to PC/DOS by its authors, expanding the visuals, sound and music. It was later declared freeware and can be now downloaded from the developer's website.
