Game description
Football Fanatic is a comprehensive sports/business simulation game where you are in charge of a football (soccer in the US) club. The player controls all aspects of the team's existence, managing the players and coaches, securing and allocating funds, upgrading the team's stadium and so on. The goal is to win all cups available and emerge as the uncontested victor.
The game is entirely text-based, so you will navigate through various menus to operate the club. The teams and players are based on real-life football clubs from the mid-90s, but it is possible to play a scenario where player and team stats and rankings will be randomised, instead of following their real-life prototypes.
Football Fanatic was originally sold as shareware, but Thunderbear Software declared the full game freeware in the early 2000s and made it available for download from their site. The lead programmer also made several post-freeware release updates to the code, in the "beta" and "preview" status, which are also available for download.
