Game description
Fenix Blade is perhaps one of the most good-looking console style RPGs for the PC/DOS platform, at least in the freeware department. Unfortunately, it appears that the project has been long abandoned, and only a playable demo exists, but it looks absolutely fantastic, featuring both very good quality graphics and all sorts of special effects like coloured and dynamic lighting, various animations, transparency and so on.
The story takes place in some sort of magical steampunk world, and the demo starts in medias res, leaving it for the player to slowly piece together what exactly is going on. The main character is sent on a covert mission that is sketchy at best, and will gradually learn more about it and the game mechanics while progressing through the initial stages of the demo. There is a rather complex fighting system that might take some getting used to, but otherwise the game should pose no problem for both seasoned RPG veterans and newcomers to the genre.
The demo contains a complete scenario that can be played from start to finish. More information about the game, including hints and demo walkthrough, are available from the Wayback Machine's copy of the project website (please see the links section at the bottom of this page).
