Game description
Frontier: Elite II is a freeform space trader/mercenary simulator and the sequel to the original Elite. The player starts off with an average spaceship and a handful of credits, and can trade cargo, run various errands and even join the military to make a living in this complex world of space colonization. The game features realistic simulation of planets and star systems, yet piloting the spaceship is not overly complex (beginners should still follow the tutorial from the manual) and the game gives a great freedom to the player, resulting in a sandbox-like experience.
Frontier was originally sold commercially, but as the original publishers went out of business, Frontier Developments switched to the shareware model. The entire game can be downloaded and played for 30 days for free, after which players should register.
